July 3-July 31st: Captured and Rendered
Captured and Rendered is the artist’s exploration of outdoor spaces, of life moments transformed by being experienced. Captures (which are renders) and renders (which are captures) refers to the photos and encaustic paintings created when moment are slowed to stillness, becoming enlivened through human experience. This process is metaphorically and practically alchemical, using pigmented wax paints, shellac burn, mixed and paper mediums. Part representation and part abstraction, this body of work seeks to push the boundary of expectation and preconceived rules, allowing other perspectives to emerge.
August 7 – August 28th: Fun Things To Do with a Blowtorch
This body of work focuses on meditative painting and experimentation, sampling the many ways a blow torch can be used to create works of art. A variety of materials is used to create abstract images and photo encaustic, including plexiglass, found objects, and mixed media. Pieces will remain for sale from Captured and Rendered on the website and available for pickup at DAC
