ART OPENING – Elements Exhibition: FIRE & AIR

Saturday, September 1st from 2-4pm

The DAC is excited about our ELEMENTS exhibition trilogy this season. The opening for EARTH and WATER went well with eighteen artists from across the U.S. and Germany. Our third and final opening titled FIRE & AIR is Saturday, September 1st from 2-4p.m. Our themes have focused our creative, civic and natural imaginations on the four basic elements and encouraged many marvelous and varied visual interpretations. We hoped to inspire and move our collective imaginations toward a sustainable planet by bringing awareness to the many visual forms these themes could have taken. We are happy to say all artists rose to the occasion.

Our third art exhibit this season, Fire & Air, opens on Saturday September 1st and is our last exhibit in the ELEMENTS series. The Art opening is from 2-4 pm, preceding the performance of DaPonte String Quartet, which starts at 7:30pm. Join us for the opening of Fire & Air’s six presenting artists: Sheldon Ann, Alison Borelli, Emily Burr, Janet Gill, Nora Moore Lloyd, and Jo Scheder.

Jo Scheder describes her technique she used with Breath Wish, “The technique involves curating emergent light. I manipulate transient ambient light, refracted through glass or liquids, to find images as they appear and disappear. I photograph the images, then explore and develop them with digital tools. Whether in representational or abstract photography, my intention is to encourage an experience of place, moment, or discovery. These pieces’ comment on climate change, hope, and apathy.”

Thank you to our generous food sponsor, Standard Gastropub, for the yummy fare they provided throughout our ELEMENTS Exhibitions, and to Elizabeth Roth for instrumental harp music. Come join us this season for our final opening of our Elements Exhibition and support arts in our communities. The Denmark Arts Gallery is open each Saturday from Noon to 4:00 and continues to show through the fall.
